Distribution Associate

Position Summary:
The Distributions Associate is responsible for accurate and timely processing of participant distributions for qualified retirement plans, with a strong emphasis on SRT (Schwab Retirement Technologies) workflows
and end-to-end distribution execution. This role requires prior hands-on experience processing distributions, navigating recordkeeping systems, and applying plan provisions and regulatory requirements with consistency and care.
In addition to
technical expertise, this role plays an important part in supporting FinDec’s collaborative, people-forward culture by communicating clearly, welcoming feedback, and contributing to continuous learning and process improvement.
Key
Responsibilities
- Process participant distributions including lump sum, partial, RMDs, hardship withdrawals, loan offsets, and force-out distributions.
- Execute distribution workflows within SRT, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and
alignment with plan provisions.
- Review distribution paperwork for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with IRS regulations and plan rules.
- Identify missing or inconsistent information and proactively coordinate
resolution.
- Communicate professionally with plan sponsors, participants, Relationship Managers, and internal teams to provide status updates and resolve questions.
- Create, update, and maintain Salesforce cases to document distribution
activity, communications, and outcomes.
- Partner with Compliance and Operations leadership to escalate issues, identify trends, and support corrective actions.
- Contribute to the refinement of distribution procedures, checklists, and
workflows.
- Meet service level expectations while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and documentation.
- Support a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement within the Operations
team.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of direct experience processing retirement plan distributions (401(k), profit sharing, 403(b), etc.).
- Hands-on experience working in SRT.
- Working knowledge of IRS
regulations related to retirement plan distributions, including RMD requirements.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook);
Salesforce or similar CRM experience preferred.
- Ability to clearly document work and communicate updates in a regulated environment.
