Plan Consultant II

Compliance & Technical  ·  Retirement Plan Administration  ·  Experienced Professional

Is this you?

The compliance side of retirement plan administration is where precision meets purpose — and at this point in your career, you know exactly what that means.

You’ve built real depth in retirement plan compliance. You can work through complex testing scenarios, navigate IRS and DOL requirements with confidence, and resolve the kinds of issues that get escalated to you — not from you. You hold yourself to a high standard and you raise the bar for the people around you.

You’re a team player who takes pride in the quality of your work and the growth of your colleagues. You’re ready for a role where your expertise is recognized, your judgment is trusted, and your contribution goes beyond your own desk.

What you’ll do here

As a Plan Consultant II, you’re a senior compliance and technical resource — handling complex plan administration, supporting audits and regulatory matters, and serving as a go-to for the team. You operate with a high degree of autonomy and bring the experience to back it up.

Compliance & testing

  • Monitor deadlines and compliance obligations for your assigned book of business
  • Prepare and perform annual nondiscrimination and compliance testing: ADP/ACP, Top Heavy, 410(b), 401(a)(4), and others as required by plan design
  • Calculate employer contributions — match, pro-rata, integrated, and new comparability
  • Prepare contribution summaries and projections
  • Perform self-employed income calculations
  • Identify and resolve late deposits and missed deferral obligations
  • Calculate missed deferral corrections and support corrective filings

Data management & reconciliation

  • Review and upload incoming census data for completeness and accuracy
  • Reconcile participant contribution discrepancies
  • Reconcile recordkeeper and brokerage asset statements
  • Import recordkeeper transactions into compliance software
  • Review work by team members to ensure consistency and accuracy

Annual reporting & government filings

  • Prepare government filings including Form 5500 (EZ, SF, and large plan with applicable schedules), Form 5558 extensions, Form 5330, and Form 8955-SSA
  • Support IRS and DOL audits, correspondence, and communication needs

Support

  • Provide technical and compliance support to internal teams and directly to clients
  • Participate in consultation calls related to compliance matters, audits, and corrections
  • Research and resolve advanced plan design and regulatory questions escalated by Relationship Managers or internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with actuaries and other departments to address technical issues impacting plan administration

Leadership

  • Serve as a key resource, coach, and trainer for Plan Consultant I team members
  • Step in for the team lead when needed, keeping operations moving and decisions sound
  • Actively participate in cross-functional meetings and firm-wide initiatives

What you bring

  • 3+ years of experience in qualified retirement plan administration and compliance
  • In-depth knowledge of IRS, DOL, and ERISA regulations
  • High proficiency in compliance software such as FTW
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills — the details are where you live
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a genuine investment in accuracy
  • A collaborative mindset and a real interest in helping others develop

Why MAP?

At MAP, you’ll be part of a team working on a national scale — serving more than 10,000 plans across more than 6,500 businesses — which means exposure to a complexity and variety of plan designs you’re unlikely to find at a local or regional TPA.

As a Plan Consultant II, you’re doing more than executing solid work — you’re helping evolve best practices, mentoring the next generation of consultants, and contributing to a growing national firm that appreciates your expertise. We’re technology-forward and people-fueled, and we invest in the professionals who help us stay that way.

Benefits

  • Medical, Dental & Vision — we cover 80% for employees, 50% for dependents
  • 401(k) with safe harbor contributions
  • Generous open PTO policy
  • Life insurance, FSA & HSA
  • Ongoing industry training and professional development
  • A team that genuinely likes working together

Salary Range: $50,000 - $80,000 annually. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
