Plan Document Specialist

We are looking for a full-time Plan Document Specialist either on-site in our Shrewsbury, New Jersey headquarters or fully remote within the US.

The Plan Document Specialist role is a position pertinent to the success of NPPG. The ideal candidate has in depth knowledge of ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations and how these are applicable to drafting plan documents. This role involves drafting plan documents for a variety of plan types and internal communications related to plan documents, amendments and restatements.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Draft Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution plan documents, restatements and amendments
  • Prepare and maintain plan documents for new retirement plans, conversions and restatements
  • Draft discretionary, interim and required amendments including participant disclosures
  • Prepare annual notices
  • Collaborate with internal teams on plan documents, amendments and necessary participant communications
  • Monitor completion and follow up of plan document or amendment requests and regulatory restatement or amendment projects
  • Assist with gathering prior plan documents and amendments
  • Review and update procedures 
  • Create processes for legislative and recurring large-scale plan document projects to ensure successful, timely completion
  • Possess a detailed understanding and ability to interpret plan documents, and related plan materials to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations
  • Stay current on industry updates, legislative changes and internal initiatives as they pertain to and impact recordkeepers, employers, participants, and plan documents

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of retirement plan experience with a focus on document drafting
  • Strong understanding of ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations
  • Relius Document or FT William software experience a plus
  • Positive attitude and a service-oriented mindset
  • Self-motivation, strong attention to detail and work ethic
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Strong sense of business ethics and integrity
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with MEPs/PEPs
  • ASPPA, NIPA or ERPA credentials
  • Bachelor's degree
