Retirement Plan Administrator

We are a small actuarial and TPA firm in the northern suburbs of Chicago who specializes in providing actuarial, consulting, third party recordkeeping and administration services for small, closely held companies.  We are seeking a qualified individual to fill an on-site opening within our organization.

This position requires that you have a working knowledge of the different types of qualified retirement plans for small companies and the law/regulations that govern them.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile employee data provided by client
  • Reconcile trust assets
  • Perform valuations for defined benefit (including cash balance) and profit sharing (including 401(k)) plans
  • Perform compliance testing under 401(k), 401(m), 401(a)(4), 410(b), 415, 416, etc.
  • Prepare valuation reports and employee statements
  • Process distributions and loans
  • Prepare government filings (including 5500 series, PBGC, 1099-R, 5330, 8955-SSA, etc.)
  • Draft plan documents

Qualifications/Skills:

  • 5+ years of small plan DC experience (DB experience is a plus) for independent actuarial/TPA firm
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations related to small qualified plans
  • The ability to read and interpret plan documents
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and organizational skills with an attention to detail
  • Can multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Is a team player with a willingness to learn and grow but can also work independently
  • ASPPA designation (or progression toward designation) a plus

Benefits and Compensation:

Compensation is commensurate with experience and professional designations but expected to be in the $70,000-$90,000 range with the potential for merit raises.  401(k) plan with safe harbor profit sharing contribution, medical insurance, paid vacation and financial assistance toward fees needed to advance through ASPPA designation process available.
