Position Summary

The Defined Benefit (DB) Analyst performs a variety of data-related tasks for Defined Benefit (DB) and Cash Balance (CB) retirement plans. The role involves capturing, validating, and managing plan data to ensure accuracy and completeness. The DB Analyst also assists in preparing reports for stakeholders or management, including benefit calculations and compliance testing results. Additionally, the role supports administrative tasks related to plan administration, regulatory filings, and other relevant activities.

*Responsibilities:

  • Prepare 5500, Schedule SB, and PBGC filings for DB and CB plans with proficiency.
  • Prepare benefit calculations and distribution election forms for DB and CB plans.
  • Understand and interpret DB and CB plan document provisions.
  • Prepare the annual checklist, run initial DB or CB valuations, check and verify accrued benefits, and prepare preliminary 401(a)(26) and 401(a)(4) testing for actuary review.
  • Prepare and submit deliverables for review by the Retirement Plan Consultant (RPC) and actuary.
  • Provide support for plan onboarding and, when applicable, plan termination.
  • Meet assigned goals related to turnaround times and accuracy.
  • Communicate significant issues, exceptions, or discrepancies to relevant parties in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in the field; less experience may be considered with additional education or specialized training.
  • Industry-related credentials (e.g., ASPPA or NIPA) are a plus.
  • Excellent multitasking, collaboration, and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and retirement plan-specific software.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Pay Range: $65,000 - $95,000 depending on experience and location
