Senior Product Owner – DC Compliance

Seeking a DC Compliance expert to lead and work with a fun and seasoned team building and maintaining software used by TPAs.
The DC Compliance Product Owner is responsible for defining, prioritizing, and delivering enhancements to the Defined
Contribution (DC) Compliance and DC Proposal software modules. This role serves as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, customers, and development teams to ensure the product meets regulatory requirements, customer needs, and strategic
business goals.
The Product Owner owns the product backlog, leads project planning activities, creates clear and actionable user stories, and ensures high-quality delivery of features related to retirement plan compliance.
Key
Responsibilities
Product Ownership & Strategy
- Own and maintain the DC Compliance product roadmap, aligning enhancements with business objectives, regulatory changes, and customer feedback
- Act as the
subject-matter authority for DC Compliance functionality, workflows, and regulatory requirements
- Prioritize enhancements, defects, and technical debt based on risk, value, and customer impact
Project
Planning
- Collaborate with development, QA, and product leadership to define milestones and releases
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts for complex initiatives involving multiple modules (e.g., DB Compliance, Proposal, Portal,
Documents, 5500)
- Act as a buffer between the team and external disruptions to keep projects on track
- Partner with customer focus groups to gather, analyze, and synthesize feedback to inform large initiatives and ongoing product
improvements.
User Story Creation & Backlog Management
- Translate business requirements, regulatory guidance, and customer needs into clear, well-defined user stories
- Write user stories with acceptance
criteria that are testable, unambiguous, and ensure usability and regulatory compliance
- Maintain a ready and prioritized product backlog to support efficient development and testing
- Review completed user stories to confirm acceptance
criteria are met prior to release
Regulatory & Compliance Expertise
- Analyze IRS, DOL, and other regulatory guidance impacting DC plans (e.g., nondiscrimination testing, eligibility, contributions, SECURE
2.0)
- Verify changes to the software meet regulations and are in line with document provisions
- Ensure product enhancements/changes are compliant with current regulations and industry best practices
Stakeholder &
Customer Collaboration
- Provide demos to prospective clients
- Work with Custom Development on DC Compliance and DC Proposal related projects
- Work closely with the Defined Benefit Compliance Product Owner on projects that
support combined efforts and parallel improvements.
- Gather and synthesize feedback from clients, internal teams, support, and sales to inform prioritization
- Communicate release details to stakeholders
- Support customer-facing
communications, training materials, videos and documentation as needed
- Help the support team with questions that they are unable to answer
Quality & Release Support
- Participate in functional testing,
testing review, and release sign-off activities
- Ensure edge cases, calculations, and compliance logic are thoroughly vetted
- Support post-release validation and issue triage as needed
- Own customer communications by creating clear,
timely email updates, demonstration videos, and supporting documentation that drive transparency and customer success
Qualifications
Required Experience & Knowledge
- 3–7 years of
experience working in product management, product ownership, business analysis, or solution design
- Professional credentials such as QPA, QKA, QKC, CPC, or similar retirement plan designations
- Strong understanding of Defined
Contribution retirement plans (e.g., 401(k), 403(b), governmental plans) required
- In depth knowledge of compliance testing concepts and calculations such as ADP/ACP, coverage, top-heavy, limits, general test, imputed disparity, vesting calculations
and eligibility
- Understanding of aggregated testing for Defined Contribution/Defined Benefit plans
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum-based development environments
Core Skills
- Project planning and
execution, including managing scope, priorities, and dependencies
- User story creation, including writing clear acceptance criteria and business rules
- Ability to translate complex regulatory or business requirements into technical-ready
documentation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with retirement plan
compliance software or TPA workflows
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or similar Agile certification
- Experience supporting SECURE Act / SECURE 2.0 enhancements
- Able to manually calculate compliance tests

Compensation:
$85,600.00 - $149,400.00 USD
This role is eligible for Bonus.
Compensation range listed is based on primary
