ESOP Plan Administrator/Consultant

National ESOP Provider

(Remote / Westchester IL)

Overview:
National ESOP Provider seeks an experienced ESOP Administrator/Consultant. This role is responsible for the day-to-day administration of Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs), providing consulting support to plan sponsors, and ensuring compliance with IRS and DOL regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of ESOPs, excellent client service skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer ESOPs, including annual allocations, participant statements, repurchase obligations, and distributions
  • Perform compliance testing and prepare required government filings (e.g., Form 5500, 1099-R)
  • Consult with plan sponsors on ESOP design, compliance issues, and best practices
  • Review and interpret plan documents and amendments
  • Prepare and review benefit calculations and participant-level transactions
  • Collaborate with legal, accounting, and valuation partners as needed
  • Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and problem-solving
  • Support plan conversions and implementations when required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
  • 3+ years of ESOP administration or retirement plan consulting experience
  • Strong understanding of ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations relating to ESOPs
  • Experience with compliance testing and government filings
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Effective communicator with ability to explain technical concepts to clients
  • Proficiency with retirement plan administration software (experience with ESOP-specific platforms a plus)
