Position Overview

We are hiring a Recordkeeping and TPA Relationship Manager to join our Client Services team. This is a central role in how we serve plan sponsors, advisors, and other intermediaries — you are the primary point of contact for your clients, responsible for their overall satisfaction and for ensuring the full depth of our organization is working on their behalf.

This is not a passive account management role. We are looking for someone who approaches client relationships consultatively — who understands retirement plans deeply enough to turn a compliance result into a plan design conversation, who builds the kind of trust that makes clients call you before they call a competitor, and who sees their book of business as a portfolio to grow and protect, not just a list to service.

You will work alongside a team of RMs who collectively maintain a book of business, supported by skilled compliance, recordkeeping, and operations professionals. Your job is to make sure every client feels like they have a dedicated expert looking out for them — because they do.

The retirement plan business is built on technical complexity. Our clients deal with ADP/ACP testing, plan document requirements, 415 limits, ERISA fiduciary obligations, and an evolving regulatory landscape every year. What differentiates an exceptional RM is not just knowing that landscape — it is making clients feel guided through it rather than managed by it.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of retirement plan clients, including plan sponsors, HR teams, finance leaders, trustees, and boards.
  • Build trusted client relationships by providing proactive guidance on plan performance, design, compliance, and regulatory changes.
  • Lead client meetings and quarterly reviews, helping clients align their retirement plans with business and workforce objectives.
  • Collaborate with advisors, CPAs, ERISA attorneys, and other business partners to support client success.
  • Assist clients with plan design decisions, amendments, audits, compliance matters, and regulatory requirements.
  • Explain compliance testing results, reports, and regulatory updates in a clear, client-friendly manner.
  • Advocate for clients internally and partner with operational, compliance, recordkeeping, and participant services teams to resolve issues and deliver exceptional service.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen client relationships through enhanced services, plan improvements, and proactive consultation.
  • Manage specialized client projects, including audits, corrections, reporting, and compliance-related initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate client records, meeting notes, and relationship activity within the CRM system.
  • Monitor client satisfaction, address potential concerns proactively, and share client feedback with leadership to support continuous improvement.
  • Support team collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the successful onboarding of new clients.

Qualifications & Skills

  • QKA (Qualified 401(k) Administrator) credential or equivalent — active and in good standing
  • 5 or more years of experience in retirement plan services in a client-facing role
  • Strong working knowledge of defined contribution plan administration: ADP/ACP testing, 415 limits, 5500 filings, plan document requirements, and ERISA compliance obligations
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex regulatory and compliance matters clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Experience managing multiple client relationships simultaneously with strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and comfort working in CRM and plan administration systems
  • ERPA or other ASPPA credentials beyond QKA preferred
  • Experience with defined benefit, cash balance, or governmental plans (457(b) / 401(a)) preferred
  • Familiarity with Relius Administration, FT Williams, or Microsoft Dynamics CRM preferred
  • Experience with MEP, PEP, or PEO plan structures preferred
  • Fully Remote
  • Compensation $70-110K
  • 10% bonus
