Plan Document & ERISA Consultant

SetAway is growing, and we are looking for a true ERISA nerd who also genuinely loves working with people.
We are a fast-moving, relationship-first TPA firm known for responsiveness, deep expertise, and making our advisor partners look great. As
our TPA, 3(16) fiduciary, and consulting services continue to grow, we are looking for someone who can help lead the charge on complex plan design strategy and document oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare plan
documents by reviewing and mapping prior plan documents to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Participate in plan provision calls and other client communications to help customers understand their plan design
- Offer thoughtful recommendations
when plan provisions are not supported or when design improvements may benefit the client
- Prepare and submit approved plan provisions to recordkeepers and draft corresponding plan documents using designated software
- Identify opportunities
for procedural, methodological, and process improvements that support the continued growth of the business unit
- Demonstrate strong ability to read, interpret, and apply legal and technical plan language
- Communicate clearly and
professionally with internal team members, advisors, and clients
- Manage document restatements and amendments
ERISA Thought Leadership
- Serve as SetAway’s go-to ERISA resource for both internal teams and
external partners
- Stay current on regulatory developments and industry trends
- Translate complex rules into actionable guidance for plan sponsors and advisors
- Support development of client alerts, talking points, and educational
materials as needed
Qualifications
- Preferred minimum of 5 years of experience working with retirement plan documents
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a commitment to excellent internal and
external service
- Thorough understanding of ERISA and IRS regulations governing qualified retirement plans
- Proven ability to draft, interpret, and review plan documents, amendments, restatements, SPDs, and related compliance
materials
- Experience with ASC DGEM software is a plus
- Experience consulting on plan design concepts with employers and advisors
- Familiarity with 401(k) administration processes, including compliance testing, plan operations, and
document cycles preferred
- Highly detail-oriented with strong follow-through and ownership mindset
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- ASPPA or NIPA credentials preferred
