As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Retirement Plans Lead to oversee and expand our employer-sponsored retirement plan division.

This is a leadership-level opportunity for someone passionate about plan consulting, fiduciary excellence, client service, and business development.

Position Summary

The Retirement Plans Lead plays a critical role in directing the strategy, operations, compliance, and client experience of Klaas Financial’s retirement plan services. You will guide plan sponsors through design, oversight, fiduciary support, and participant engagement while helping grow the division across the Midwest.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Department Strategy

  • Provide strategic direction for the retirement plan division aligned with firm-wide growth goals
  • Foster a collaborative, client-first culture rooted in integrity and education
  • Establish department goals, metrics, and accountability standards

Growth & Business Development

  • Partner with firm leadership to expand retirement plan business
  • Identify new plan sponsor opportunities and deepen existing client relationships
  • Support marketing and educational initiatives that position Klaas Financial as a trusted resource

Client Service & Relationship Management

  • Oversee delivery of high-quality plan consulting and administrative services
  • Serve as a primary contact for key plan sponsor relationships
  • Coordinate participant education and financial wellness strategies
  • Collaborate on 3(21) and 3(38) investment advisory services
  • Maintain strong partnerships with custodians, TPAs, and plan providers

Compliance & Fiduciary Oversight

  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, DOL, and IRS requirements
  • Monitor evolving fiduciary best practices and communicate updates
  • Oversee audits, filings, and documentation to mitigate risk

Operational Excellence

  • Improve workflows, technology integration, and operational processes
  • Report on prospecting, retention, revenue growth, and compliance performance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in retirement plan consulting or administration (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of qualified plans (401(k), 403(b), 457, cash balance, IRAs)
  • Proven ability to network with business owners and HR leaders
  • Designations such as CPFA, AIF®, QKA® (preferred)
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and project management skills
