Position summary: 
The 3(16) Plan Administrator with all fiduciary responsibilities as well as primary liaison with Financial Advisors, Clients, Participants, and Record Keeping Platforms to ensure accurate and timely plan administration.


General purpose: 
Provide fiduciary services to ERISA 3(16) Services, LLC
 

Role qualifications:

  • QKA Professional designation required or obtainable.
  • 5+ years plan administration experience with concentration in 3(16) plans. 
  • Working knowledge of IRS and DOL regulations. 
  • Proficient MS Office skills and computer skills. 
  • Proficient knowledge of Relius plan administration software. 
  • Knowledge of all types of retirement plans. 
  • Willingness to travel as necessary. 
  • Must attend conferences, seminars and webinars to further education.
     

Position responsibilities:

  • Provide copies of plan documents to participants upon request
  • Sign required governmental regulatory amendments 
  • Participant eligibility tracking (highest service level - including the following:)
    • Provide enrollment material
    • Facilitate participant elections with vendors
    • Communicate automatic enrollment, if applicable
    • Review payroll reports 
    • Communicate and relay deferral rate changes between plan sponsor, payroll vendor and platform, if applicable
  • Review, sign and file Form 5500
  • Provide participants with quarterly and annual disclosures 
  • Provide participants Summary Annual Report
  • Authorize deferral refunds to HCEs to correct failed ADP test
  • Authorize forfeiture/distribution of excess contributions to correct ACP test
  • Provide and communicate with plan sponsor with possible solutions for failed coverage or nondiscrimination testing
  • Verify the proper and full completion of distribution forms 
  • If granted, authorize participant account distributions
  • Review documentation for hardship distributions 
  • Authorize use of forfeitures as permitted under the Plan terms
  • Maintain records of all distributions 
  • Communicate with participants regarding distribution requests 
  • Approve or deny loan requests 
  • QDRO services 
  • Provide assistance with IRS audit or DOL investigation 
  • Mass Mailing services, as needed
  • Client and participant communications 
  • Onboarding of new clients
  • Organize and lead annual plan sponsor reviews
  • Special projects, as needed
  • Act as a role model, mentor, and work collectively with, 3(16) Specialist

Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
