ERISA Regulatory Consultant

Please Note: This position allows remote work from home but may require travel to our Voya office as business requires. 

Seeking an Advanced Market Consultant to perform regulatory and consultative services; research IRC, ERISA and selected state retirement plan law, rules and regulations in order to respond to inquiries from internal customers in the business areas and, as warranted, external customers. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform regulatory and consultative services; research IRS, DOL, ERISA and selected state retirement plan law rules and regulations in order to respond to inquiries from internal customers in the business areas and, as warranted, external customers.
  • Participate in projects requiring technical consulting support; recommend solutions; conduct internal communication/rollouts in response to business needs and partner, as warranted, with Marketing to develop external communications. Sufficient skill set to assess complex scenarios for most phases of projects. 
  • Conduct analysis of plan documents to identify areas where they do not address most recent IRS and/or ERISA provisions, identify potential areas where the sponsor would need to take corrective action or assess current HR and/or payroll protocols, and where plan provisions may not align with applicable Voya service model. 
  • Create and present materials on relevant industry issues, legislative updates, and other complex plan design topics to internal business partners.
  • SME on how internal processes contribute to adherence to IRS, DOL and ERISA regulatory requirements. 
  • Assist with fee disclosure and other regulatory notices, as warranted. 
  • Contribute to the operational readiness process. Contribute to “just-in-time” communications related to IRS, DOL, ERISA, and selected state retirement plan legislative or industry topics impacting the Retirement Services block of business.
  • Provide technical consultative support for development and maintenance of standard operating procedures, forms or correspondence related to retirement plans. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years’ experience with retirement plans and related rules/regulations
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical and research skills
  • Ability to operate and prioritize deliverables in a multi-tasking environment
  • ASPPA credentials preferred
