Best Best & Krieger LLP is a nationally recognized law firm focused on delivering effective and client-service oriented solutions to complex legal issues facing public agencies, businesses and individuals across the U.S. BB&K is proud to trace
the firm's success back to the groundwork of professionalism and community service laid by its founders 135 years ago. Today, with nearly 250 attorneys in offices throughout California and in Oregon and Washington, D.C., we efficiently and meaningfully
assist our clients with complex, multi-disciplinary issues and provide creative solutions.
At BB&K, we place a high degree of value in creating and nurturing a work environment that attracts the best talent and reflects our commitment to
inclusiveness and collaboration. We are proud of our diverse workplace, where we respect and value our colleagues for their unique perspectives and experiences.
We are seeking an attorney with at least four years of experience with qualified
retirement plans and a strong interest in working with non-ERISA public retirement plans and church plans. The candidate must have experience in qualified plan design and compliance, including both tax and fiduciary compliance. The candidate must
have knowledge of ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and related regulatory frameworks. The candidate must be interested in learning about and working with non-ERISA, governmental and church plan clients, and CalPERS. The candidate should have experience
drafting plan documents and summary plan descriptions, negotiating service provider contracts, reviewing investment management agreements and counseling plan sponsors and fiduciaries on compliance requirements and fiduciary best practices, including plan
governance. The ideal candidate will also have experience with the IRS voluntary compliance programs, the design and administration of governmental 457(b) plans, and some knowledge of the Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act of 2013. The
candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills, a desire to work in a collaborative environment with a highly engaged team, and a demonstrated ability to manage and maintain significant client relationships. This position offers an
exciting opportunity to be part of, and potentially takeover, an well-established specialized practice area. A flexible work arrangement may be considered. Candidates must be admitted to practice in California.
