Apex Systems is recruiting for a large, global company to bring multiple Compliance Testers for a fully remote, full-time, contract position. If you have experience completing nondiscrimination testing, top-heavy testing, and contribution limit testing with retirement plans this is the opportunity for you! 

Responsibilities: 

  • Perform compliance nondiscrimination and limit testing as it applies to all types of defined contribution retirement plans including 401(k), 403(b), and 457(b) plans with the rare need for review
  • Perform contribution allocations for all entity types including allocations with self-employment income and allocations for a plan using new comparability, age-weighted, and other cross-tested features
  • Analyze plans that are failing coverage and non-discrimination requirements and provide solutions
  • Prepare government forms including Form 5500 & related Schedules, Form 5500-SF, Form 8955-SSA & Form 5330 with the rare need for review and troubleshooting 5500s that are not reconciling 
  • Perform corrections under IRS’s SCP and VCP programs
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of ERISA, Internal Revenue Code, and Regulations and their application to defined contribution retirement plans. Also, understanding of retirement plan document language and their application to testing and reporting.
  • May develop new procedures with customers to ensure the client software is used appropriately
  • Be a subject matter expert to peers and customers

Requirements:

  • 5 or more years completing compliance testing on 401(k), 403(b), or 457(b) retirement plans
  • Experience with Omni, Relius Administration, and Relius Government Forms
  • Great understanding of ERISA and Internal Revenue Code and Regulations
  • Have experience preparing Form 5500 and related schedules, Form 5500-SF, Form 8955-SSA, and Form 5330
  • Needs to have experience performing contribution allocations including allocations for a plan using  new comparability, age-weighted, and other cross-tested features
  • Types of testing:
    • Determine eligibility
    • Coverage testing
    • Nondiscrimination testing (ADP/ACP, Benefits, Rights and Features, 401(a)(4), (414(s))
    • Top-heavy testing
    • Contribution limit testing (402(g), 415)
  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication, and time management skills
