The Consulting Actuary will be responsible for the management of IRS qualified defined benefit pension plans, public sector pension plans, and retiree medical plans in our mid-size plan market. This includes consulting on the actuarial valuation, special plan design, study requests and regulatory compliance. Direct client relationship building for clients is expected.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage recurring actuarial projects with support staff
  • Represent the company on client calls and in client meetings as needed
  • Ability to accurately interpret and apply plan documents provisions
  • Ensure compliance with DOL, IRS and PBGC requirements
  • Review of Form 5500 and related schedules, Form 8955-SSA and PBGC filings
  • Prepare and certify valuations for private and public sector defined benefits plans
  • Prepare actuarial valuations for private sector and public sector retiree medical plans
  • Review of benefit calculations including optional forms of payment
  • Ensure proper coordination and delivery of annual required notices
  • Review of Actuarial Analyst work within team environment


Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication
  • Must be detailed and possess strong organizational skills
  • Time management focused adhering to deadlines and timelines
  • Proficient with public and private sector actuarial measurements

Education and Qualifications:

  • College Degree required or 5 years’ experience in lieu of education
  • 5+ years of prior actuarial work experience
  • Broad knowledge of the retirement plan industry
  • Experience with ProVal and PensionPro software preferred
  • EA designation required

Travel

  • Some travel, not to exceed 10%
