Job Summary

Responsible for providing complex plan design support and assistance related to all types of 401(a), 403(b) and 457(b) plans both internally and externally.

Job Requirements

Plan design consulting, including responsibility for client facing consultative plan design calls with plan sponsors and advisors as part of the implementation /installation process

  • Complex document preparation, including plan amendments, plan restatements and board resolutions
  • Maintain a high-level awareness of ongoing developments in retirement plan industry
  • Ability to independently research, analyze and interpret IRS and DOL regulations and retirement plan legislation
  • Review and prepare plan analysis for new and existing clients, including issue identification and consult on issue resolution and best practices
  • Governmental and tax-exempt (ERISA & Non-ERISA) intermediate knowledge
  • Advanced communication skills (verbal, written, listening) with the ability to influence others and convey complex regulatory rules and requirements in layman terms.
  • Ability to present complex and technical material to audiences at all levels
  • Develops and conducts formal training of colleagues to enhance their understanding of ERISA, plan document design, and the retirement plan industry
  • Complex or advanced problem resolution skills, with an emphasis on analysis, formation and documentation of recommendations, ability to develop alternative solution to complex situations
  • Proven ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously with a high level of accuracy and within tight deadlines
  • Experience working in changing, high growth environments; comfortable with ambiguity and working in matrixed organizations
  • Being able to work collaboratively within the team and across the organization is a must and appropriately raises suggestions for improvement within the team and the division
  • Ability to meet job requirements and fully collaborate with all stakeholders while working remotely

Required Education and/or Certifications

  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent work experience
  • Retirement plan certification (ASPPA, NIPA, CPC, ERPA, CEBS)

Required Work Experience

  • 5+ years of retirement industry experience in legal, compliance or a similar setting
  • In depth knowledge of legal requirements for section 401(a) plans, 403(b) plans and Section 457 plans
  • Experience drafting plan documents
  • Or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background
