Bredhoff & Kaiser (www.bredhoff.com) has a national, renowned legal practice in a broad range of matters affecting the rights and interests of employees, employee-benefit plans, labor organizations, and not-for-profit organizations. Founded 70 years ago in Washington, DC, we are 27 lawyers (and a dozen staff members) whose shared commitment to empowering workers and the institutions that advocate for them fosters cohesion and internal collegiality. Nine of B&K's lawyers devote all or most of their entire practice to representing multiemployer and single-employer benefit funds and labor organizations who maintain benefit funds for their employees.
We are looking for experienced lawyers who want to contribute to our growing and dynamic practice counseling employee-benefit plans and labor organizations regarding employee-benefits laws, including ERISA. B&K lawyers work on a wide range of issues ranging from providing hands-on compliance advice to representing plans and fiduciaries before various government agencies to designing complex, cutting-edge benefit programs.
Candidates should have a strong academic background; superior analytic, research, and writing skills; and the ability to work well with clients, administrators, other employee-benefit-plan professionals, and fellow lawyers and staff. Commitment to expertise in subject matter is encouraged. Must be able to travel to meet with clients and to perform other professional obligations. Successful candidates likely will have demonstrated interest or experience in employee-benefits, ERISA, tax, labor, or non-profits. We are open also to substantially experienced candidates laterally at the of-counsel level.
B&K is committed to increasing the diversity of our lawyers and staff; we believe that diversity, including racial diversity, reflects our values and improves the quality of our work; and we strongly encourage applications from Black and indigenous persons and people of color, from persons identifying as LBGTQ+, from persons with disabilities, and from persons with non-traditional backgrounds. B&K is an equal-opportunity employer.
Hybrid position, up to two days working from home per week.
Candidates should submit a resume, law school transcript (unofficial), and a writing sample to the Bredhoff & Kaiser Hiring Committee at hiring@bredhoff.com.
