Retirement Plan Specialists, Inc. (RPS) is a growing, family-owned boutique third-party administration firm located in the central Florida suburb of Oviedo, FL.  RPS administers both large and small plans of various types including 401(k), 403(b), ESOP, Profit Sharing (including cross-tested), Defined Benefit, and Cash Balance.

Position Information

RPS is looking for a full-time Plan Administrator for a full block of plans comprised primarily of small 401(k) & Cash Balance plans.  Candidate will need to be able to complete full annual administration including valuation, compliance testing, & 5500 completion, and candidate must also be able to exercise critical thinking and problem-solving, communicate effectively with clients and fellow team members, and organize workflow.  Duties required will include but are not limited to: review and interpret census, payroll, & W-2 data; allocate contributions to optimize testing; trust accounting. Candidate must also be able to review and interpret Plan Documents and, when necessary, assist with maintenance including amendments & restatements.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Prior experience with DB/DC aggregation is a strong plus, but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who has a willingness to learn.  However, a strong base of prior plan administration experience is required, including the details of 401(a)(4) and 410(b) testing.
  • ASPPA and/or NIPA designations are strongly encouraged.  RPS is willing to sponsor education.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products necessary
  • Ability to read investment and financial statements
  • Familiar with W-2s and payroll reports
  • Familiarity with actuarial calculations and ability to administer traditional Defined Benefit Plans is a plus
  • Knowledge of Datair administration (PEWin) and reporting (PR) systems & ftwilliam documents is a plus
