Job Description

Associate Consultants working with retirement plans are employee benefits practitioners providing various services to effectively manage clients’ benefit plans. Associate Consultants develop their expertise through a professional education program chartered by a leading society of employee benefits professionals.

Associate Consultants are responsible for preparation of core client deliverables. They may determine eligible employees for plan participation; calculate employer contributions; process benefit distributions and participant loans; prepare employer management reports and participant benefit statements; reconcile plan transactions; prepare financial statements; and prepare government tax form filings. Associate Consultants may manage a block of clients and coordinate client work product and deliverables with colleagues. They may meet with clients, both via telephone and in person, to review plan deliverables and educate client employees about benefit plan features.

Associate Consultants develop their working knowledge of relevant technical and compliance requirements, learn to apply technical requirements conceptually to meet certain client objectives, and may periodically communicate advice and recommendations to clients and their professional advisors.
Position Requirements     


  • Bachelor's degree. 2+ years of experience working with retirement plans.
  • Relevant certifications from the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA), National Association of Plan Administrators (NIPA), or other professional organizations are a plus.

Technical Competencies:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of retirement plan systems for administration, documents, and government forms (FIS Relius applications preferred)

Salary Range     $43,000 to $63,000  
Exempt/Non-Exempt     Exempt  
Full-Time/Part-Time     Full-Time
