Air Products is undertaking some of the world’s largest industrial gas projects in the world as it supports our customers in the transition to sustainable solutions.  As a member of the HR team supporting Global Engineering, Manufacturing & Technology (GEMTE) & HR Americas, the HR Partner – Large Projects, will provide hands-on strategic and operational HR support to our internal EPC Project Delivery Teams with a primary focus on mega-projects within Americas.  From time to time, the role may be asked to support project delivery in other parts of the world.  The HR Partner – Large Projects, will follow the HR needs of large projects from the estimating phase through to on-site construction.   During the estimating phase, the will work directly with leaders in the Product Lines, as well as Engineering and Procurement, to support workforce including forecasting labor rates, talent acquisition and talent mobility strategies.  As projects progress to execution, the HR Partner – Large Projects will support and coach project leadership in filling strategic roles, building a high performance team, fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging, and developing leadership capability.  The role will have a visible presence on-site during the project construction phase and therefore must be willing to travel.  This role works collaboratively with HR colleagues across GEMTE globally and the Americas, and our Communities of Expertise (COEs), particularly Talent Acquisition, Compensation and Benefits and Mobility.  This is an exciting, fast-paced role that provides the opportunity to truly make a meaningful impact. 

Key Competencies and Characteristics:

  • Develops strong, trusted partnerships with project delivery leaders to understand, guide, and advise on strategic business and people matters
  • Highly collaborative; Functions as HR Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for project delivery leadership and works with all facets of HR team, including regional HRBPs and COEs, to meet the workforce needs of the projects.
  • Provides coaching and guidance to help project leadership teams perform optimally
  • Understands the market landscape and implications for staffing large scale projects, including labor availability and labor rates for both contractors and direct staff; works with regional HRBPs to facilitate talent mobility internally to develop a strong project delivery workforce
  • Understands the workforce needs of large project design and construction; Aligns with project leadership in all workforce related aspects of talent delivery, from estimating through to mobilization and eventually, demobilization
  • Partners with managers and centralized recruiting resources to support the talent acquisition process
  • Champions diversity, inclusion, and belonging and drives our D&I goals and initiatives.
  • Evaluates and executes priorities in a fast-changing environment using a well-organized and disciplined approach


  • 10+ years of experience in HR Partnering and Employee Relations, preferably in Engineering, Construction or EPC firms.
  • Proven success in effectively partnering with and influencing leaders at all levels, from first time managers to senior leaders
  • Demonstrated functional competence across key areas of HR, including strategic workforce planning, talent and performance management, employee relations, compensation, and mobility.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, and travel regularly, to meet the needs of project delivery teams
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment which demands strong deliverables along with the ability to identify challenges and drive appropriate solutions
  • Excellent organizational, collaboration and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Experience in an HR center of expertise, e.g., Compensation, Talent Acquisition
  • Master's Degree in HRM or MBA preferred
