DB/DC Consultant

Would you like to join a vibrant and growing independent southern California Third Party Administration firm?  If you have defined benefit and defined contribution plan experience, value customer service, excel at problem solving, and possess excellent verbal and email communication skills, Campbell Albrecht would like to talk to you.

We are looking for someone who can complete the entire annual administration and reporting cycle for defined benefit and defined contribution plans, including all testing and valuations, distributions/loans, trust reconciliations, and consultation with clients.

Our preferred candidate will have some or all the following attributes:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ working knowledge of defined contribution and defined benefit plans
  • Current working knowledge of DC Plans including ADP/ACP, 415, 410(b), Top Heavy and 401(a) non-discrimination testing
  • Current working knowledge of defined benefit, DB/DC Combo, and Cash Balance Plans, including hypothetical allocations, top-heavy requirements, minimum and maximum funding requirements
  • General understanding of actuarial valuations
  • General knowledge of PBGC coverage and its requirements
  • NIPA or ASPPA credentials
  • Experience with Datair
  • Familiarity with Access
  • Experience with unbundled recordkeepers such as John Hancock, Transamerica, Empower, and American Funds
  • Knowledge of pooled profit sharing plans
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • High level of critical thinking
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Ability to multitask in a team environment, prioritizing workflow for self and team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain client and advisor relationships with a high client retention rate
  • Maintain a caseload of about 100 to 125 401(k), DB, Cash Balance, and or DB/DC Combo plans
  • Manage and prioritize workload towards weekly goals in a results-oriented team environment
  • Provide superior client service and the ability to consult with clients regarding plan operation and design
  • Perform work according to Campbell Albrecht policies and procedures
  • Prepare, review, and/or approve ADP/ACP, other non-discrimination testing, Form 5500, and other government forms
  • Clearly communicate to the client and advisor on the complexities of combo plans, including annual funding requirements, plan design, and deadlines (funding, 5500, PBGC, amendments, etc.)


This position includes a 36-hour work week, a competitive compensation package including medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and generous paid time off, including a flexible holiday schedule and floating holidays.  We also have a massage therapist visit our office in Woodland Hills twice a month!

In addition, if you do not have an ASPPA (or NIPA) designation -- or if you want to obtain the next one -- we pay for the training.
