Company Overview

Retirement Plan Specialists, Inc. (RPS) is a growing, family-owned boutique third party administration firm located in the central Florida suburb of Oviedo.  RPS administers both large and small plans of various types including 401(k), 403(b), ESOP, Profit Sharing (including cross-tested), Defined Benefit, and Cash Balance. 

Role and Responsibilities

Position is a full-time role preferably in-office with remote abilities, but a fully-remote telecommute position may be available for the appropriate candidate.  Administrator will have charge over a block of clients comprised of Cash Balance and 401k aggregate-tested small plans.  Candidate must be able to complete full annual administration including valuation, compliance testing, & 5500 completion process.  They must also be able to exercise critical thinking and problem-solving, communicate effectively with clients, and organize workflow.  Duties required include, but are not limited to: review and interpret census, payroll, & W-2 data; allocate contributions to optimize aggregated 401(a)(4) & 410(b) testing; trust accounting. Position also requires the ability to review and interpret Plan Documents and, when necessary, assist with maintenance including amendments & restatements.

Qualifications and Requirements

Required skills:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in administering small business (<100 employees) defined contribution and Cash Balance Plans including aggregated testing
  • ASPPA designation of QPA or equivalent skills and experience
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat

Other preferred skills:

  • Familiarity with actuarial calculations
  • Knowledge of Datair Pension System & Pension Reporter system

Compensation & Benefits

Position will pay a base compensation based on prior experience, credentials, & workload with a bonus based on performance. Additional rewards and supplements are available for certain continuing professional and personal development.  Health insurance and retirement plan are also available.
