Trucker Huss, one of the largest law firms focused exclusively on employee benefits law with offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles, seeks an attorney with at least four years of experience with health and welfare plans, and who focuses their practice on the representation of multiemployer and other collectively bargained health and welfare plans.  

Basic qualifications:

The ideal candidate should have experience counseling multiemployer trusts and boards of trustees on all aspects of their health and welfare plans, including but not limited to health, disability, and training/apprenticeship plans.  The candidate should have substantive knowledge of VEBAs and understanding of the laws governing health and welfare plans, including ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, the Affordable Care Act, HIPAA, and COBRA and their respective implementing regulations and guidance.  The candidate should also have experience with drafting plan documents, summary plan descriptions and other plan communications, negotiating service provider agreements, responding to IRS and DOL investigations, and negotiating investment management agreements.    Further, the candidate should have strong communication and teamwork skills.

Candidate must be a member of the California bar, or willing to become a member of the California bar.
