Job purpose

The position will supervise productivity goals for team and company deadlines, oversee team responsiveness to client ensuring all phone calls and emails responded to within 24 hours and prove consistent production standards and review annual valuations prepared by outsourcing and/or team members for accuracy.

Our ideal candidate would have a minimum 15 plus years’ of industry experience with progressive job duties and leadership experience.  Past roll should include Senior Defined Benefits Consultant with Cash Balance Experience.  Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration.  Completion of American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA) Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA). 

Job Description

  • Supervise productivity goals for team and company deadlines.
  • Facilitate 30-day completion and communication of contribution calculation letter to client,  
  • Allocate work to the team including items such as contribution calculation, valuation review, 5500 review, 5500 signature and other jobs or duties as assigned,
  • Participate in annual reviews and make recommendations for compensation modifications to team members,
  • Coach, train, identify performance deficiencies and facilitate performance improvement with the team members,
  • Oversee team responsiveness to client.  Ensure all phone calls and emails responded to within 24 hours and prove consistent production standards,     
  • Communicate potential concerns to Consultant Manager,
  • Perform Annual Compliance Testing to demonstrate satisfaction of IRS regulations,
  • Review annual valuations prepared by outsourcing and/or team members for accuracy,
  • Accurately and timely complete and/or review form 5500 for filing prior to the annual deadline,
  • Arrange and attend client meetings to ensure communication and client satisfaction,
  • Develop and execute plans to improve customer satisfaction and overall quality of services,
  • Assist the Trust Accountants team with client questions,
  • Assist the Data Collections team with acquiring information and coordinate Data Collection mail-outs for plans within the Defined Benefit Department,
  • Communicate plan issues interdepartmentally,
  • Provide recommendations on suitable billing to be coordinated with Consultant Manager and Chief Financial Officer (CFO),  
  • Proactively communicate outstanding invoices of 90 days or more to client(s) during the course routine interaction,
  • Provide technical guidance and direction,
  • Manage team jobs in Retirement Plan Administration (RPA) system for timely completion,
  • Act as a back-up for team members,
  • Manage timekeeping system and Paid Time Off (PTO) requests for team members,
  • Travel may be required,
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration or equivalent combination of education, training and work experience,
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in retirement/pension industry,
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office,
  • Prior leadership experience preferred,
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience working as a Full Cycle “A to Z” Compliance Consultant or closely related capacity,
  • ASC Retirement Plan Software experience is preferred,
  • Extensive client management experience with a proven history of retention and client satisfaction,
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize, manage tasks and meet deadlines in connection with business operations,
  • Must have proven success regarding client satisfaction and work production,

  • The ability to clearly and concisely articulate retirement terminology to clients,
  • Understand the integral part and aspects of Retirement Plans with a special inference on Defined Contribution 401(k), Defined Benefit and Cash Balance Plans,
  • Must possess the ERPA, or be enrolled in and actively pursuing the designation, or a management approved equivalent, 
  • Team oriented attitude a willingness to help others achieve,
  • Strong knowledge of English grammar, composition, spelling and punctuation,
  • Ability to analyze data, determine root cause, and provide and/or develop an appropriate solution for resolution

Physical requirements

The physical demands of the job include sitting for long periods of time, typing, visually reviewing data on a computer screen/monitor, standing, squatting, kneeling, bending, lifting and carrying files, office supplies, boxes of paper and office related items up to 40 lbs.
