This position works on multi-functional project teams for projects of varying degrees of complexity and timeliness related to our retirement plans. 

More specifically, the Project Specialist will have the opportunity to:

  • Manage year-end critical deliverables, including but not limited to: determining cost of living adjustments, accurate generation of past service rate increases, and updating insurance premiums.
  • Be responsible for analysis and generation of monthly wire payments.
  • Collaborate with Actuarial Services, Compliance, IT and Quality Assurance as it relates to handling special projects. Responsibilities might include research, calculation of retroactive events, analysis of accuracy in payments and making applicable adjustments.
  • Manage the RMD project for participants required to take a distribution.  Including assessing the accuracy of the calculations, coordinating the gathering of resources, partnering with our RMD Specialist and generating the distributions.
  • Review and reconcile accounts, assess areas of concern and improvements and communicate to impacted individuals.
  • Manage distribution-related initiatives determining resources, determining project timelines, delegating tasks to resources, monitoring progress, and keep stakeholders informed.
  • Generate and submit requests for system improvements or corrections.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and familiarity with internal documentation.
  • Maintain an awareness of peripheral systems that may indirectly affect the systems and business processes of the department.
  • Maintain an extensive working knowledge of the systems used by the department in supporting the business processes.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working in retirement benefit administration; with at least two years in record keeping.
  • Intermediate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications (e.g., pivot tables, advanced formulas, mail merges).

Preferred Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Defined Contribution, Defined Benefit, 401(k) or 403(b) Pension Plans; Health & Welfare Plans.

Wespath Benefits and Investments offers a Monday-Friday, first shift work schedule, competitive compensation, and full benefits. We are currently working from home due to the pandemic but anyone in this position needs to be willing and able to work from our Glenview, IL office as needed when the office reopens.
