Benefits Manager (Customer Experience and Operations Leader)

Overview

The Benefits HR team is seeking a Benefits Leader to play a key role in our growing company, as it serves the needs of our rapidly-expanding heath care services client base across the United States. This position is responsible for ensuring the effective operation, delivery, and administration of the company benefits programs in accordance with strategic objectives and all local, state and federal regulations. Reporting to the Benefits Director, this position will oversee a team of Benefit Analysts and Benefit Specialists.   Every day is a new opportunity.  Due to the dynamic environment, you move fast while keeping your attention to detail, leverage your strong planning and organization skills, and the ability to multi-task, prioritize and deliver results to support Ensign’s business objectives. You will continually look for ways to help our team get better at what we do, in the most efficient way possible. A team player at heart, you will be collaborating with various departments and creatively educating our field affiliates about their benefit programs. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities include:

• This position will lead, develop and retain an engaged and high performing administrative team. 
• The Leader will review and analyze all benefit programs (health, voluntary programs, 401k, and deferred compensation), by studying employee needs, comparing them against benchmark data/trends and making recommendations for plan or strategy changes.
• Oversees the annual open enrollment processes (health and deferred compensation), including plan renewals, partnering with brokers and benefits carriers, leadership engagement, and employee communications. 
• Oversees the implementation and maintenance of all benefit systems (Workday) as they pertain to benefits administration. 
• Oversees the Benefits Call Center and resolves employee questions and problems by interpreting benefit policies and procedures. 
• Responsible for ensuring employee benefits policies and records are up-to-date and compliant with Federal and State requirements and advises management on needed actions. 
• Will perform other duties as assigned.

This position is based out of the Service Center in San Juan Capistrano, CA.

Qualified candidates must have:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience.
• At least 7 years benefits experience including but not limited to medical, dental, vision and retirement programs.
• At least 3 years’ experience managing others.
• At least 2 years’ experience overseeing a large self-funded plan.
• Demonstrated understanding of current benefits laws and regulations (including ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, PFL and other benefit regulations).
• Strong organizational, project and vendor management skills.
• Experience working with benefits software systems or platforms, preferably Workday.  Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent oral, written communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
• Strong knowledge of management principles and practice.
• Good organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to prioritize. Ability to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints.
• Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) designation is a plus.
