Job Summary: The Senior Governance Consultant is an integral part of the Fiduciary Consulting Services team working with various team members to develop and deliver qualified plan and governance analytics and consulting services to Newport’s institutional clients.

 What You Will Do:

  • Work with governance analysts, develops client meeting deliverables with appropriate focus and attention to detail.
  • Support team activity as an ongoing technical and responsive resource to investment consultants, intermediaries and clients.
  • Participate in client and committee meetings, discussions and delivery of related materials.
  • Manage relationships and workflows with key contacts at client’s record-keeper and administrative services provider.
  • Perform and lead research as needed for range of plan and governance subject matter and staying current on regulatory and legislative developments associated with defined contribution plans.
  • Participate in new business development and builds relationships with centers of influence.
  • Conduct peer review of client materials to ensure quality of deliverables.
  • Develop and manages client project work including Request for Proposals
  • Work  in a fast-paced, multi-task environment, is a "self-starter" working continuously under tight deadlines.
  • Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.

 Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, math, business or related field
  • 5+ years’ of ERISA and defined contribution qualified plan experience with emphasis on 401(k) plan activity
  • Understanding of key governance activity related to committee charters, evaluating plan service providers, analyzing plan expenses, assessing participant communication and education activity, compliance with 404(c) and 404a-5 regulations
  • Experience with various major 401(k) recordkeeping service provider organizations
  • Strong MS Office skills including MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Adobe Acrobat

Preferred (but not required):

  •  Licenses (FINRA Series 6 or 7, and 66) or agreement to pursue licenses
  • Master’s or J.D. degree, AIFA, PPC, CPC, CPFA designation
