The Regulatory Consulting Associate has primary responsibility for preparation of plan documents, plan amendments, resolutions, SPDs, SMMs and certain IRS / DOL filings. Works under general supervision of Principal & Senior Regulatory Compliance Consultant and exercises initiative and independent judgment in tasks performed.


  • Prepares Plan documents, amendments, resolutions, policies and procedures.
  • Prepares certain IRS / DOL filings.
  • Prepares SPDs and SMMs.
  • Prepares required IRS / DOL participant notices.
  • Plan corrections under IRS / DOL voluntary correction / compliance programs (EPCRS, DFVC, VFC).
  • Reviews powers of attorney to verify named party’s ability to act on participant’s behalf.
  • Research and consulting on legislative, regulatory and compliance items.
  • Maintains a general working knowledge of ERISA rules applicable to employee retirement plans.
  • Prepares other documentation, reports, etc. as assigned.
  • Observes Milliman’s formal peer review policy.


  • Experienced ERISA Paralegal preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Professional designation in area of expertise preferred (e.g., ASPPA QPA and/or CPC).
  • Proven ability to understand technical issues associated with qualified, nonqualified, 403(b) and 457(b) retirement plans.
  • Expertise in IRS and DOL regulations that govern employer-sponsored retirement plans.
  • Hands-on expertise in preparation of plan documents, plan amendments, resolutions, SPDs, SMMs, policies / procedures, required notices and IRS determination letter filings.
  • Strong experience with volume submitter and / or individually designed plan documents is a must.
  • Must possess strong problem solving skills.
  • Experience with FIS Relius (both Corbel and PPD) documents is a plus.
  • Must be dependable, well-organized and able to work efficiently and independently.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strict adherence to assigned deadlines is a must.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must possess working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word and have an aptitude for learning additional software applications.
  • Willingness to work overtime as workload dictates.
