The Document Specialist role is a challenging opportunity for an individual with strong communication skills to assist team members and clients with various legislative, operational and plan design aspects of qualified defined contribution plans, including the creation, amendments, and restatements of plan documents. The Document Specialist develops and produces plan documents that are in compliance with complex IRS requirements.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Understanding of Rainmaker Product – including banking, rollover, compliance, fair market value, appraisals, 5500s, testing, business entities and controlled groups;
  • Understanding of and ability to communicate IRS, DOL and ERISA regulations and requirements;
  • Creation, execution, distribution of all plan documents, amendments, restatements, and notices;
  • Staying current on legislation/regulation, ensuring all plans stay in compliance;
  • Proactive educational and follow up contact with client base;
  • Explain Plan Document provisions to clients.


  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
  • 3-5 years retirement industry experience;
  • ASPPA and or ERPA Credentials preferred;
  • Advanced working knowledge and understanding of retirement plan administration and associated regulations and IRS tax rules;
  • Knowledge of ERISA concepts, guidelines, and compliance issues;
  • Excellent customer service skills including the ability to manage client expectations and provide superior follow-up service;
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision;
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as excellent listening ability.
