Transactions Specialist

Overall responsibility
Process participant account transactions, including loan payoffs, incoming rollovers, distributions, and loans.

Key areas of responsibility

  • Develop new technical skills and expand knowledge of our systems and recordkeeping software to find better ways to service our clients and adapt to system changes and upgrades
  • Act as BlueStar’s ambassador to its clients
  • Manage Freshdesk tickets and provide accurate and timely responses to participant questions
  • Track in PlanConnect incoming distributions and loan distributions
  • Reach out to participants to obtain additional documentation or clarify instructions as needed
  • Provide support to Call Center regarding questions on distributions and loans
  • Assemble and collect as necessary all required participant documentation for the requested transaction
  • Ensure security requirements are met prior to processing distribution or loan
  • Properly tag and upload forms into the document vault
  • Review vesting and years of service to ensure that the participant receives the proper distribution
  • Correct vesting issues within Relius
  • Review request to ensure request conforms to plan document requirements for termination distributions
  • Review request to ensure request conforms to plan document related to in-service, EACA, RMDs, death distributions and source-level restrictions
  • Evaluate hardship distributions and prepare Hardship Review Form
  • Enter transactions on MPC in accordance with the request
  • Determine death beneficiaries and evaluate separation of benefits to beneficiaries
  • Evaluate Domestic Relations Orders and make recommendations regarding their qualified status
  • Evaluate and track all incoming rollover requests
  • Maintain excellent relationship with plan sponsors and participants, following up as needed on any outstanding transaction items
  • Monitor and process any returned distributions and loans, including looking up lost participants
  • Act with a sense of urgency recognizing the downstream effect of delays in processing
  • Execute 1099R correction requests as necessary
  • Follow BlueStar procedures for maintaining records of all participant request forms
