Pension Processor

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process and review ongoing contribution and census data files without supervision and without error
  • Prepare funding allocations and initiate funding with various investment companies
  • Prepare contribution control sheets, analysis reports, and discrepancy reports without supervision and without error
  • Import contribution files into Relius
  • Extra time and effort during testing and 5500 filing deadlines
  • Must become knowledgeable of relevant aspects of pension trust accounting and law
  • Complete familiarity with all company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time by the Processing Manager
  • To progress to the Processing Coordinator position, the Pension Processor must be able to perform all duties and responsibilities as noted above with minimal supervision and without error

Supervisory Functions

  • No supervisory functions

Education / Experience

  • Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two year college or technical school; or
  • Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Language skills

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations 
  • Ability to write business and interoffice correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, co-workers, clients, and plan participants

Mathematical skills

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, proportions, percentages, etc., and to apply to practical situations 
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra  

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to solve practical problems where only limited standardization exists 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • There is no initial requirement for this position 
  • To maintain this position, the Data Processor must work to complete the Retirement Fundamentals (or equivalent) courses through the American Society of Pension Actuaries

Other Qualifications

  • Must have strong financial, accounting and spreadsheet computer skills 
  • Must be able to work effectively in a stressful situation and meet tight deadlines 
  • Work requires strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to multitask
