Employee Fiduciary, LLC is a third-party administrator and recordkeeper for tax-qualified defined contribution retirement plans and is experiencing rapid growth. Our company has been profiled in Money magazine and is a leading provider of low-cost 401(k) plans to small and mid-sized businesses.

Employee Fiduciary is currently seeking an ERISA Compliance Consultant for our Compliance Department. The Compliance Department performs year-end nondiscrimination testing and Form 5500 reporting, prepares and maintains plan documents, and provides ERISA technical support for our clients’ retirement plans. This position reports to the Director of Compliance.

The ERISA Compliance Consultant position is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to further advance an ERISA technical career through exposure to compliance-related tasks/issues and contribute to the development of junior team members.

Essential Functions: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without a reasonable accommodation).

  • QC review of DC-plan nondiscrimination testing, Form 5500s, plan document amendments, and other compliance-related tasks completed by Analysts
  • Prepare 401(k) / Profit Sharing, 403(b) and 457(b) plan documents, amendments, SMMs, SPDs and other participant notices, nondiscrimination testing, and Form 5500s for new and current clients using Ft. William document tools
  • Perform review QDRO’s to for accuracy and completeness and determine the award to alternate payee
  • Expert understanding of DC-plan retirement plan contributions (including New Comparability)
  • Maintain an expert knowledge of qualified plan regulations and the ability to apply that knowledge to effectively execute efficient resolution to escalated ERISA technical issues from clients and/or internal employees
  • Mentor and develop department staff by providing ERISA technical guidance and QC review feedback
  • Complete ERISA consulting projects and other ERISA compliance-related duties as assigned
  • Follow policies and procedures set forth by the company

Skills, knowledge and abilities: (these are required to enable job holder to perform the essential functions of the job).

  • Ability to produce client-ready packages for annual nondiscrimination testing, employer contribution calculations, tax reporting, and plan documents for defined contribution plans within the parameters of our service standards
  • Ability to effectively train and develop aspiring ERISA technicians from the ground up to complete Compliance Department job functions
  • Ability to develop and maintain a strong proficiency in the use of Relius and Ft William software tools and the ability to train others on their use
  • Ability to interact cordially and productively with all company employees, handle multiple tasks effectively, and work under pressure
  • A strong proficiency in the use Microsoft Office software, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • An expert understanding of department processes, procedures and standards

Experience and Education Requirements:

Accounting or finance degree with five or more years of ERISA compliance-related work experience is required (additional years of experience may be viewed as a substitute to degree).  Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.  ASPPA professional credentials (CPC, QPA, QKA) and prior experience with Relius and/or Ft William is a plus.
