Consultant and Relationship Manager

The Consultant and Relationship Manager is responsible for the health of our overall client relationship and specifically as it pertains to the Co-op 401(k) Plan. In this role, the Relationship Manager will attend meetings, manage client expectations, deliver services to employers within the cooperative industry, and introduce applicable Milliman products and services.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver the highest quality of service to clients, associates, and management.
  • Demonstrate full understanding of clients and their retirement plans. Develop in-depth understanding of each client’s sensitivities, needs, and objectives with respect to their retirement plans, particularly defined contribution.
  • Analyze clients’ retirement plans to make recommendations to key contacts and retirement committees regarding best options to meet the clients’ goals and compliment other sponsored plans.
  • Attend regular client committee and board meetings.
  • Develop relationship with clients enabling the ability to cross-sell services, ask for referrals, and retain clients long-term.
  • Motivate team members to work together in the most efficient manner to achieve or exceed service levels for clients.
  • Operate within and execute the strategic plan for the Defined Contribution business unit.
  • Provide required reporting to communicate client needs and situations to the appropriate parties.
  • Participate in the billing process and be responsible for the overall financial health of the client.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Five or more years of industry experience with an expertise in retirement plans and strong working knowledge of 401(k) plans.
  • Experience with strong working knowledge of the cooperative industry desired but not required.
  • Able to travel.
  • Professional designation in area of expertise desired but not required (e.g., ASPPA QKA, QPA and/or CPC).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective time management.
  • Good written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem solver.
  • Able to multi-task.
  • Able to work with time-sensitive material and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Able to work independently while also contributing in a team environment.
  • While not a requirement, knowledge and experience candidates have with defined benefit plans and nonqualified plans (SERP and/or defined contribution) are a plus.
