Responsibilities will include assisting participants, clients and brokers with their qualified plan needs & concerns, which requires great listening skills, astute problem-solving abilities, and highly proficient math skills.  Testing, Valuation reporting, and Trust Accounting are all part of the challenges of being a Qualified Plan Administrator, as is preparing complex administration reports for clients, and assisting those clients with contribution allocations, etc.  

QPAC professionals have the communication skills of an auditor, with the compliance skills of tax professional.  They have the mathematics acumen of a statistician or economics professional and enjoy making a real difference in the lives of thousands of people.

Position Summary:

Provide qualified plan administration services to Clark, Schaefer, Hackett & Co. clients and assist clients with any of their qualified plan related issues.

Essential Job Function / Responsibilities:

  • Assist participants, clients and brokers with their qualified plan related concerns.
  • Place, receive and respond to phone calls to/from participants, clients and brokers with regard to qualified plan concerns.
  • Prepare plan administration reports, with assistance, on a monthly, quarterly, semiannual and/or yearly basis as required.
  • Interpret plan documents.
  • Perform annual non-discrimination testing.
  • Prepare required government filings.
  • Provide clients with solutions to retirement plan related problems.
  • Assist clients with contribution allocations.
  • Assist new clients with issues related to qualified plan conversion.
  • Assist clients as necessary when dealing with third party inquiries regarding audits, notices, QDROs and any other qualified plan related concerns.

Secondary Job Responsibilities:

  • Attend continuing education courses to maintain and improve qualified plan administration knowledge.
  • Act as a resource for Department and other Clark, Schaefer, Hackett & Co. staff as needed.
  • Organize, prioritize & maintain individual workload in an efficient manner.
  • Attend meetings with clients and financial advisors
  • Manage participant distributions, financial hardship withdrawals, participant loans and any related tax reporting.
  • Meet chargeable hours goals.
  • Research issues related to qualified plan topics as needed.
  • Assist in training of new Plan Administrators as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, or other related field.
  • At least three (3) years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Evidence of having passed the ASPA PA1A & PA1B tests strongly preferred.
  • QKA designation preferred.

  • Experienced with and ability to use MS Word, Excel and other software used by the Department.

  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
