SD Cooper Company is the primary developer of the Entrepreneur Rollover Stock Ownership Plan (ERSOP) where an individual can invest their IRA & 401(k) money into a business. We were founded in 2002 but have over 40 years of experience in what we do. One of the main things we do is to handle the setup of a new Corporation for our clients and then create a qualified retirement plan tied to that business and provide ministerial services to them for the administration of that Plan. We are a family-owned business and are located in Huntington Beach, CA.

Position Summary:
SDCooper Company is looking for an experienced Pension Plan Administrator with a minimum of 3 years of experience in all aspects of Defined Contribution (DC) plan administration. The Plan Administrator will manage a case load of simple and complex retirement plans and move them through the entire pension administration cycle, which includes compliance testing, Form 5500 preparation, plan consulting and other activities like loans, amendments, corrections and distributions. Our plans are unique and candidates must be motivated and willing to learn what we do and how our plans are managed. Candidates must be able to work in a small office environment, have self-motivation, strong work ethic, integrity, positive and enthusiastic attitude, and place a high value on quality of work. Must enjoy working in a detailed oriented environment. We are looking for someone passionate about Pension Plan Administration!

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform and review pension and trust accounting calculations for a variety of plans
  • Support the pension management team on special projects as needed
  • Prepare employer contribution calculations
  • Analyze and reconcile client quarterly / annual brokerage / bank account statements
  • Maintain DC plan compliance in accordance with the DOL and IRC requirements             
  • Review asset activity and assist in maintaining accuracy of vesting, loans, distributions, and contributions
  • Data collection and entry
  • Maintain great professional client relationships
  • Effectively communicate with clients
  • Perform annual compliance testing including 401(a), 410(b), 415 limits
  • Form 5500, Schedule I, and other government filing preparation
  • Trust accounting
  • Review and input client employee census data
  • Prepare calculations, reports, and tax returns for clients using ASC Systems Software

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in qualified retirement Plan Administration, specifically with defined contribution 401(k) and pension plans
  • Experience with ASC Systems Software is highly preferred
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of ERISA compliance and regulatory issues governing the operation and administration of qualified retirement plans as well as generally accepted practice and procedures
  • Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to deal effectively in a demanding and high-volume environment
  • Must possess integrity
  • Strong time management
  • Responsible in handling sensitive data and knowledgeable in basic security procedures
  • The ability to learn quickly with maintaining attention to detail
  • Commitment to doing things right the first time
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Strong level of professionalism

  • Knowledge of plan document design is a plus

Salary: DOE

Job Type:  Full-time, Long term

Hours: Must work traditional hours of Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
