The ESOP Consulting Operations Director is responsible for development and delivery of consulting services to internal and external clients. Cultivate and enhance relationships with internal and external clients to stay apprised of client needs and expectations, including; delivering appropriate consulting services, promoting consulting capabilities, and developing additional consulting resources/capabilities. Ensure appropriate consulting capabilities through staff selection, training, development, and retention.

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Direct the operations of the ESOP consulting operations teams to achieve the revenue goals of the practice.  This includes the financial analysis, communication, and consulting projects teams.
  • Manage overall priorities and objectives of the consulting team so consulting resources are deployed in an effective manner.  Assign and monitor completion of work to meet client objectives in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Mentor, develop and train consulting staff by creating opportunities for sharing and learning experiences.
  • Work with internal and external teams to identify and implement best practices in work flow, process management, and infrastructure.  Define and execute initiatives to improve productivity and capacity.
  • Execute on the design and implementation of new product and marketing initiatives.
  • Proactively seek out and develop opportunities to deliver value added services that position Principal to be a trusted business advisor.


Skills required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent of 8 years’ experience.
  • 12+ years’ experience in retirement, ERISA or employee benefits related field. 
  • Formal leadership experience.

Successful candidates will have the following:

  • Banking, attorney, accounting or consulting firm experience valued. 
  • Must have proven ability to leverage pension experience and knowledge to define and sell value added consulting services.
  • Attain applicable industry designations. 
  • Excellent skills in consulting, negotiation, presentation, organizational and problem-solving required, as well as superior interpersonal, analytical and oral written communication skills. 
  • Must be assertive and entrepreneurial.
  • Travel required up to 25% of the time.
