We are seeking an Account Manager to service businesses up to 100 employees. This position will combine client-facing and administrative duties. You will build, implement and manage this segment of the business including but not limited to: preparing and presenting proposals, onboarding new clients, managing day-to-day service and administration of plans, procuring and negotiating renewals and facilitating open enrollment meetings. This position is suited for someone who has served in an account management or account executive role in the up to 100 employee market. You will work closely with clients, vendors and other members of the benefits team.

Skills and Responsibilities

Technical Expertise

  • Expert knowledge of health and welfare plan for groups up to 100 lives
  • Working knowledge of benefits administration systems
  • Up to date on industry legislative, tax, and market updates
  •  Ability to understand client needs and deliver solutions based on technical knowledge

Account Management

  • Proactively manage day-to-day service issues and concerns
  • Foresight and knowledge to identify potential issues and provide solutions based on specific client situations
  • Maintain organized electronic client files and system for project management

Lead Client Meetings

  • Responsible for scheduling, preparing, and leading all client meetings
  • Ability to clearly explain complex strategies, compliance and policy benefits to individuals, C-suite executives and business owners

Manage Client Deliverables

  • Accountable for prioritizing meeting deadlines and following-through on all client related matters:
    • Financial analyses and reporting
    •  Benchmark analyses
    •  Renewal negotiations
    • Open enrollment meetings
  • Draft, prepare, and present client presentations

Vendor/Carrier Evaluation and Management

  • Prepare data required for competitive marketing process, draft, collect and analyze vendor responses, conduct basic vendor negotiations, prepare marketing report, present results to the client
  • Maintain relationships with various insurers while staying current on new vendor capabilities and products

Business Unit Development

  • Lead development of the business segment, leveraging technology and identifying key partners, activities, resources, value proposition, products and services and policies and procedures.
  • Support business development team in meeting sales and profitability goals

  • Exceptional project management skills with demonstrated ability to exceed client expectations, detail-oriented
  • Creates positive relationships with clients and prospective clients
  • Desire, experience, and skill to lead client meetings
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills

Professional Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years related experience in account management and/or account executive role
  • Minimum of 7 years experience working with group health, life, and disability plans
  • Michigan Life and Health insurance license
  • Michigan Counselor’s license
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of software, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Professional Designation(s) preferred: CEBS® or REBC®
