Minimum Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s Degree preferred.

Minimum Job-Related Experience

  • 1-2 years customer service experience in the financial services industry.

Job Summary

  • Provides the highest level of customer service to internal and external clients.
  • Responds to client inquiries via telephone, fax, mail and e-mail using mostly standard scripts and established procedures.
  • Provides detailed account information to clients and initiates basic transactions such as distributions and other service requests.
  • Documents, researches and resolves client complaints or problems.
  • Communicates complex company policy and IRS rules and regulations governing retirement plans to clients.
  • May assists less experienced representatives with large and complex issues.
  • Process withdrawal requests within defined IRS, DOL and company guidelines.
  • Cross train and process additional job functions within the team as assigned.
  • Provide coverage for team members as needed on processing functions.

Decision Making/ Problem Solving

  • Uses independent judgment to make decisions based on precedents and established guidelines.  Solves moderately complex problems using standard procedures and precedents.
  • Knows when to escalate issues to supervisor/manager and when to handle them personally.

Resources Managed

  • Individual contributor. Does not manage others.
  • Manages personal resources assigned.

Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Has a working knowledge of client service discipline that requires basic analytic ability.
  • Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Other computer software related to the industry a plus.
  • Must have the ability to process detailed work within assigned timeframes and without errors.
