JOB DESCRIPTION – ERISA Attorney

We are seeking an experienced in-house ERISA Attorney who is eager to provide professional and timely service to meet our client’s needs.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with our clients to provide consulting services regarding their retirement and benefit plans and advise on a wide variety of benefit matters
  • Assist the company with complying with federal and state laws impacting employee benefits and executive compensation
  • Provide technical support to staff members
  • Review, analyze and draft Cafeteria Plans, Amendments, and SPD’s
  • Draft and conduct training to internal and external clients
  • Assisting in review of IRS form 5500 as needed
  • Staying current with ERISA laws and monitor new legislation and regulatory changes impacting employee benefits and retirement plans
  • Filing qualified Plans with IRS
  • Ability to assist management with presentations to clients
  • Participate in special projects as assigned
  • Assist management regarding agreements and other legal work as necessary
  • 401(k) Compliance Testing (ADP / ACP & Top-Heavy Testing) Experience

Requirements

  • One to two years of ERISA / Employee Benefits experience
  • Experience using Relius Documents a plus
  • Must have license to practice law and be an active member in good standing (Preferred NC License)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the company and with our clients
  • Sound judgement, ethics and integrity business acumen, and decision-making capability in dealing with complex legal issues
  • Strong organizational skills and able to manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and effectively with a wide range of clients
  • Experience in compliance, design and implementation of both qualified and non-qualified plans is a beneficial
