Benefits Analyst / Consultant - Group Benefits Advisory

Your role.

  • Work collaboratively to help clients create sustainable employee health and welfare benefit plans
  • Analyze routine and complex financial information related to employee benefit plans
  • Manage client renewal activities including: Request for Proposals (RFPs) and communicating results directly to clients
  • Lead regular financial reporting activity inclusive of cost projections/underwriting, COBRA rate development; IBNR reserve calculations, budget, long-term cost results and cost/design benchmarking
  • Manage the relationship and conduct rate and fee negotiations with insurance carriers / vendors
  • Other projects as assigned

The qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, risk management, actuarial science, engineering or math
  • Strong quantitative reasoning and problem solving skills
  • Previous relevant experience at an insurance brokerage/agency, insurance carrier or benefits administrator working with health and welfare benefits (3+ years’ experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated understanding of group benefits underwriting techniques, risk management, financing options (fully-insured vs. self-insured), compliance (including Affordable Care Act), population health management and current benefits market
  • Strong technical skillset in Excel and other data management solutions
  • Frequent day travel throughout the region, with <20% overnight travel
