This ERISA consultant assists members of the document team and other members of the ftwilliam.com team with drafting, quality control and accuracy of all welfare benefit plan documents on the ftwilliam.com system.  ftwilliam.com is a leading provider of software for benefit service providers with approximately 100,000 plans currently using ftwilliam.com documents.  The document product line consists of a wide range of retirement plan documents and welfare benefit plans as well as all related forms and notices.

In addition, the ERISA consultant provides support to internal and external clients with technical and product issues for the health and welfare products and services.  The ERISA consultant works independently to resolve complex inquiries by researching technical publications, and product guides. The position also assists in testing products prior to product releases.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This ERISA consultant assists with all aspects of the ftwilliam.com health and welfare documents. ftwilliam.com supports ERISA service providers, and the products are designed to serve as a health and welfare document solution for them.

As part of the document team, the ERISA consultant assists with monitoring and implementing legal updates that affect the health and welfare plan types offered by ftwilliam.com. The ERISA consultant views technical and legal changes through the eyes of the customer and can provide practical solutions to clients.

  • Project management – work with other document team members, IT, and QA staff to see a project from initial design to final client release.
  • Document drafting - prepare updates for changes in law and guidance for health and welfare document types on the system: cafeteria plans, premium only plans, HRAs, transportation spending accounts and wrap plans
  • Document consulting - while no legal advice is provided, this position frequently assists customers with document drafting
  • Draft customer communications and support materials
  • Draft / review technical updates for customers
  • Prepare and conduct training for current and potential customers as well as support staff
  • Attend industry and ftwilliam.com conferences as requested by the Director of Compliance or Director of ERISA Services

OTHER DUTIES

  • Various ad-hoc other duties as required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • B.A. or B.S.

Experience:

  • Experience with health and welfare plan documents, SPDs and forms software and how those elements work within an ERISA services client’s practice
  • Knowledge of regulations and legislation affecting health and welfare plan documents in order to provide practical support
  • Document drafting experience preferred
  • ERISA retirement plan experience a plus

Proven ability to communicate complex concepts to internal and external clients

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:

  • JD, ASPPA, NIPA, CEBS or other health and welfare credentials preferred
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively interact with business managers, support staff, and other document team members
  • Ability to perform work independently with minimal supervision and to exercise sound, independent judgment and discretion
  • Demonstrates ability to fulfill designated responsibilities
  • Proficiency in MS Office products such as Excel, Word, Outlook and other typical business software applications
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Analytical and problem solving skills

Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel required to ftwilliam.com office(s), if located remotely
  • Travel required to leading industry conferences nationally to represent ftwilliam.com

Adequate and appropriate home office environment If located remote from general offices
