Responsible for financial and/or actuarial analysis associated with health & welfare employee benefit programs. Uses advanced analytical skills to resolve complex issues
in creative and effective ways. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors impacting health & welfare benefits, including risk adjustment, contribution modeling, alternative funding
arrangements, etc.. Applies and exercises independent judgment and decision-making in presenting options to consider, as well as in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to be considered by senior management and other stakeholders. Contacts
are both internal and external to the department at all levels. Erroneous decisions will have a serious impact on the overall success of department.

Duty 1: Gathers benefits budgetary data, reconciliation and planning information during plan year; Analyzes and summarizes recommendations for benefit strategy
development/performance, operating forecasts, accruals, etc.
Independently, or in conjunction with consultants and actuaries, performs complex financial or resource research and studies for internal department and external
Directs, initiates, designs and provides analytical studies, summary reports and background materials for benefit plans that have a significant impact on the plan participants and University budget.

degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Has advanced knowledge of health & welfare benefit program policy, design and systems.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and report on benefits portfolio financials and data
that is complex in nature.
Exceptional ability to present complex finance related information in a clear and concise manner, both in writing and verbally.
Must be skilled in use of Microsoft Office and common desktop/web
Negotiation, persuasion and political acumen skills.
Advanced problem avoidance, recognition and resolution skills.
Strong knowledge of benefits accounting principles, premium risk adjustment concepts and EGWP.
Knowledge of the University environment including its infrastructure, goals, objectives, achievements, rules, regulations and policies.
Strong knowledge of health care delivery and related economics as well as basic working
knowledge of clinical issues and practices.
Strong working knowledge of IBM Watson Health (formerly Truven Analytics) data warehouse application, including data-mining and report development.
