Midwest Territory Sales Director

PenChecks Trust, a leading provider of Retirement Benefit Processing Solutions, is seeking a Midwest Territory Sales Director. This position will be responsible for driving new business for our retirement benefit processing and automatic rollover IRA services primarily with Third Party Administrators (TPA), Large Plan Sponsors, and other referral sources. This person must be entrepreneurial minded and have the ability to identify and cultivate prospects that are a fit for PenChecks Trust core services. This is a direct contributor role and not a management position. This is a home office based outside sales position with travel @50% of the time so location near a major airport is a requirement.   

Essential Responsibilities:

Develop new partnership relations and preferred vendor agreements with Third Party Administrators, Large Plan Sponsors, and Advisors focusing on the retirement industry. Primary services this position will focus on are Automatic Rollover IRAs, Distribution / Paying Agent Services, Uncashed Checks, 1099-R Processing, Participant Notifications, and Qualified Termination Administration Services for Abandoned Plans.

  • Develop and close new sales opportunities across 12 state territory
  • Oversee and manage the onboarding of new partners
  • Develop and maintain business relationships with partner accounts
  • Assist in development of new services and the improvement of existing services
  • Look for new opportunities and areas to expand services
  • Develop new business through business contacts, attending conferences and industry related activities, referrals and cold calling
  • Cross selling services through relationship management and identifying opportunities through research
  • Maintaining contact with existing relationship through periodic visits and other forms of communication
  • Participate in weekly sales meetings

  • Excellent sales skills in all areas of business development including but not limited to prospecting and account management
  • Excellent ability to communication with all levels within an organization.
  • Strong formal and informal presentation skills
  • Responsible for managing and completing RFPs and Vendor Agreements in coordination with Senior Management Team
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of company personnel – from Board members to entry-level staff
  • Broad knowledge and experience in the retirement plan industry as well as software integration
  • Excellent skills in sales and communications
  • Excellent skills in relationship management
  • Excellent ability to understand clients’ needs and problem solve
  • Excellent ability to identify new business opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to seek out referrals
  • Must be able to work effectively with little or no supervision

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and five years of industry related work experience
  • Years of experience: 10 years’ outside sales experience managing a large territory
  • Strong knowledge of the Retirement, Financial Institution, TPA, and/or Financial Advisor community helpful
  • This position is a direct sales role and does not manage others

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Frequent out-of-town travel for business related sales activities and conferences
  • Overnight Travel 50%
  • This is a home office position and must be located near a major airport
