Account Manager, Retirement

HANYS Benefit Services (HBS), a subsidiary of the Healthcare Association of New York State, is seeking a full-time Account Manager. The position will be located in Upstate/Western New York.  HBS is a well-established, institutional retirement plan and employee benefits advisor. Client retirement plan assets exceed $4.6 billion, with a majority of our clients located in New York State. The Account Manager, Retirement Services reports to the VP, Client Relationship Management and Consulting, HBS and is primarily responsible for managing all aspects of the client relationship for the purpose of business retention, revenue growth, and overall client satisfaction. Our Ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is motivated, enthusiastic and has exceptional interpersonal and long term relationship building skills. Key aspects of the position include:

  • Provide a high level of customer service to retirement plan clients (we define our client as the employer/retirement plan sponsor)
  • Supervise staff in the performance of all responsibilities including employee education and enrollment activities within client facilities

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required plus three to five years of related experience required
  • New York State Life and Health license and FINRA 6 & 63 required or obtained within three months post hire
  • Must have the ability and confidence to present, work, and build relationships with senior level staff and be able to provide consultative value to client from a global and strategic perspective
  • Must be a self-starter who is motivated, enthusiastic, and has exceptional human relations and long-term relationship building skills
  • Must be detail-oriented, possess good analytical, oral and written communication skills, including frequent presentations to retirement plan committees, and work well under pressure
  • Daily travel within assigned territory plus some overnight travel
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Detail-orientation with the ability to analyze complex information
  • Professionalism in verbal and written communication
  • Client responsiveness, which includes flexibility for travel
