Sr. Product Specialist, Wellness and Disease Management Programs

The Sr. Product Specialist, Wellness and Disease Management Programs, is responsible for health promotion, wellness and chronic disease management services for the NRECA Medical Plan offered to employees of electric cooperatives. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Wellness Program - Provide the innovative management of the wellness program ensuring maximum value for cooperatives and participants accessing the program. The goal is to control medical costs and improve employee productivity, absenteeism and longevity. Management of the wellness program entails seamlessly coordinating the efforts of several vendors including WebMD, FitBit and various discount programs.   This role will collaborate with NRECA’s wellness consultant to deliver relevant education to cooperatives in the program.
  • Disease Management/Lifestyle Coaching – Manage the lifestyle coaching program that focuses on modifiable risks (e.g., tobacco use, weight management and stress management, etc.).   Ensure NRECA’s vendor partner for chronic disease management is
  • Provide consultation and guidance to co-ops on medical benefits which may include detailed reporting, assistance with wellness plan design
  • Meet with wellness and disease management vendor account managers to review outstanding issues and resolve administrative, financial, plan design or operations issues related to the NRECA medical plan benefit, the co-ops or the membership
  • Regularly report performance, with respect to service levels, cost-effectiveness, quality outcomes and participant/co-op satisfaction
  • Define and hold the vendor accountable for meaningful Performance Guarantees to demonstrate ROI for the Group Benefits Trust
  • Work with Member Engagement, Employee Benefits Communications and Digital Strategy team to communicate program changes and requirements to member, internal customers and management
  • Assist in the resolution of wellness and disease management related issues and questions for internal NRECA staff and external cooperative members
  • Coordinate audits in collaboration with NRECA’s Internal Audit department.
  • Ensure that the management of all programs remains HIPAA compliant

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business or related field. Applicable Industry designation preferable (e.g., CEBS, CPC, PHR, R.N.).
  • 3 years work experience in product/program development and management related to employee benefits, health care, wellness and disease management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of various employee benefit-related issues, especially current trends and product innovations as demonstrated by prior work experience.
  • Strong analytical skills-health care, data and/or financial analysis
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, preferred experience writing easy-to-understand benefit plan information (e.g, low-literacy, plain language)
  • Strong presentation and training skills
  • Strong research skills and abilities
  • Customer service, client management, vendor management and project management experience
