Under close supervision, within an assigned functional unit, this position reports to the Torrey
Pines, CA office and is responsible for the administration of the retirement benefit plans sponsored by GA, with primary duties with the 401(k) and pension plans. Following established policies, procedures, and standard practices, ensures that the plans
remain compliant and that activities achieve desired results. Responds to inquiries from employees and managers regarding retirement plan matters, some of which contain confidential and sensitive information, which require tact and discretion in
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in the day-to-day administration of the retirement plans sponsored by GA, with the primary responsibility for the 401(k) and pension plans to ensure that the third-party
administrators are remaining compliant per ERISA and IRS guidance.
Analyzes data and situations, recommends solutions, counsels and guides employee and manager on action to be taken.
Participates in employee and/or manager interactions to
ensure effective communications.
Develops appropriate electronic and hard copy reports and records. May develop new or revise existing electronic or hard copy systems and makes internal presentations.
May provide direction to support
Presents retirement plan information to employee groups and handles elevated customer service matters from employees.
Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business
is conducted on behalf of the Company and the retirement plans.
Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Additional functions and other duties as assigned or
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. May substitute a certificate in
benefits administration from a professional organization such as ASPPA, NIPA, or IFEBP and/or equivalent experience in lieu of education. One or more of the above professional designations would be considered a plus.
Must have a basic
understanding of retirement plan principles, theories and concepts.
Has experience, or can quickly learn HRIS applications and third-party administrator systems and other computer applications.
Possesses organization skills and is detail
Must be customer focused and possess: (1) the ability to follow policy and procedures as well as detailed instructions; (2) good verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and report findings to a limited audience;
(3) good interpersonal skills to effectively interface with all levels of employees; (4) the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information; and, (5) good computer skills.
Ability to work independently or in a team environment is
essential, as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
