Defined Contribution Compliance Analyst

Job Description Summary

Responsible for independently reviewing and analyzing defined contribution plans as assigned, and for preparation and management of plan documents and funding documents for assigned caseload. This includes verifying that all accrued benefits are protected, system issues are identified, plan documents are congruent with system set-up and appropriate parties are updated during the entire process. Responsible for analysis and preparation of plan documents, amendments and funding documents for 401(a) and 401(k) multiple employer plans, and related consulting on those documents.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare plan documents, amendments, funding documents, summary plan descriptions and plan filing packages for both existing and new clients as assigned.
  • Consult with necessary parties on plan design changes to accommodate client’s goals and objectives. Work with client’s counsel as necessary.
  •  Consult with legal counsel or senior management on requested contract, service agreement changes.
  • Undertake plan research relating to specific client plan design/compliance situations.
  • Review, analyze and consult on plan mergers and spin-offs to ensure that accrued benefits are protected and identify any potential system conflicts.
  • Ensure system is consistent with technical document specifications
  • Projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the regulations that govern defined contribution plans, including IRS, DOL/ERISA, Department of Insurance, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the legal documents that support defined contribution plans (plan documents, funding documents, Group Annuity Contracts and mutual fund agreements, plan service agreements, etc.
  • Ability to deal professionally and effectively with retirement plan sales representatives, clients and others.
  • Ability to build rapport, analyze and convey plan design issues/solutions in an easily understandable manner.
  • Problem solving skills to analyze case situation and formulate appropriate action plans.
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures and policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Transamerica products and administrative capabilities.
  • Pension or plan experience (3+ years, based on level of position).
