Position: Full-time Senior Compliance Consultant

Location: Oklahoma City, OK – 73120 / Telecommute

Details:

TriStar Pension Consulting, a Compliance Consultant and TPA for Qualified Retirement Plans, is seeking a Senior Compliance Consultant to join our team! The right candidate is an adept and experienced individual in qualified retirement plan compliance and administration, and customer service specifically working with plan sponsors.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related major is preferred, but experience in lieu of degree will be considered
  • Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) Designation or higher
  • 5 years’ work experience directly related to defined contribution plan administration and consulting
  • Working knowledge of applicable sections of the Internal Revenue Code & DOL Regulations
  • Experience with Non-discrimination testing, trust accounting, and government forms
  • Familiar with Relius Administration, Pension Pro, and Microsoft Office software
  • Experience managing a large caseload of qualified plan clients

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of administration for assigned caseload;
  • Focus on goals to meet standard turnaround times, maintain client satisfaction and retention and achieve profitability;
  • Analyze provisions in plan documents to ensure compliance with IRS and DOL regulations;
  • Evaluate takeover plans, identify compliance issues, and coordinate transition of data and communicate effectively with client;
  • Coordinate DOL, IRS and Accountant Audits;
  • Conduct Annual Plan Valuation meetings and make recommendations to client to maximize tax advantages or other benefits for client;
  • As needed, perform all aspects of administration including contribution calculations and IRS Forms/ annual report preparation;
  • Assist in calculating and processing all distribution types and loans;
  • Ensure current internal policies and procedures are consistently utilized;
  • Provide leadership and mentor team members and assist in developing their knowledge and skills;
  • Update Administration Team on workflow status weekly;
  • Perform research via proper regulation channels to resolve issues and correct plans;
  • Assist in checking work prepared by team members;
  • Support change, company policies, and procedures in a positive and motivational manner;
  • Assist in special projects as needed; perform other related tasks as required;
  • Meet or exceed all quality, productivity, and turnaround goals;

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Competence in all areas of qualified plans administration commensurate with a Senior Pension Administrator;
  • Knowledge of IRS corrective procedures, deadlines, and related penalties;
  • Knowledge of methods for researching DOL, IRS, and other related regulations, procedures and correction programs;
  • Thorough understanding of a plan’s administrative cycle, including IRS and DOL filing requirements and deadlines;
  • Thorough understanding of the current laws and regulations governing qualified retirement plans;
  • Thorough understanding of policies and procedures required for timely and compliant plan administration;
  • Effectively communicate, both in writing and orally, with a wide range of external and internal contacts in a professional manner;
  • Encourage and mentor Pension Administrators in a positive manner to achieve enhanced performance;
  • Maintain positive attitude when addressing questions and problems;
  • Ability to work under pressure of deadlines and demanding clients while remaining calm;
  • Good organizational skills and ability to set priorities consistent with service standards;
  • Adjust priorities with changes in the annual business cycle of pension administration;
  • Promote positive and professional working environment;
  • Offer creative solutions to difficult challenges;
  • Analytical and critical-thinking skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrate initiative;
  • Good judgment and decision-making;
  • Working knowledge of proper email and phone etiquette;
