Internal Sales Consultant

Job Summary:

Inside sales consultants work with customers and prospects to drive plan and individual retirement business and coordinate/execute activities to ensure a smooth sales process. Sales consultants work to find new sales leads through marketing campaigns and other outbound calling campaigns and engage with current client opportunities to expand and grow. Inside sales consultants are friendly, well-spoken and prepared to assist in closing the deal and transition to a smooth onboarding process working with the new business team and other applicable parties based on the nature of the opportunity.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with client management teams to define channel plans to cultivate and grow business for reaching revenue and retention goals
  • Support a variety of special projects to build automation tools and processes, such as proposal generator, calculators, electronic formats of forms and processes, training aspects, client communication tools, etc.
  • Conduct outbound sales calls and respond to inbound calls from financial advisors and third party administration (TPA) firms.  Prepare proposals and fee schedules as needed.
  • Identify potential opportunities and leads within current clients and new business development pursuits.
  • Work closely with marketing, business development and client management to coordinate communication of product launches, relationship management, competitive research, pre-sales tactics in effort of knowledge sharing and revenue generation.
  • Participate in sales presentations to further knowledge and development.
  • Deliver insight on the retirement plan market and our product’s to support sales and drive revenue for the firm.
  • Work with management to refine selling skills through on-call coaching and monitoring.
  • Represent as member of sales call queue that manages timely handing of inbound call requests.
  • Leverage technology to support proposal generation and distribution process.  Ensure data integrity and perform report generation for investment comparisons.
  • Run reports and analysis from CRM and disseminate accordingly.
  • Work within CRM to ensure all client and prospect notes are captured correctly.

Required Skills / Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalence of 4+ year’s industry experience. 
  • Working knowledge of qualified retirement plans and investments.
  • At least 1-2 years of internal wholesaling experience, with sales and/or advisory services background
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent, mature judgment, and prioritize tasks as needed.   
  • Proficiency with personal computers, contact management software, and office software package
  • Sitting, typing and computer monitor viewing for extended periods.  
  • May require 20% travel.
