Senior Pension Administrator

Scholz & Friends Enlightened Retirement Group, Inc.

in San Antonio TX

Helping people change their lives, for the better, directs every action we take at S&F Enlightened Retirement Group, Inc.  We are committed to providing the highest level of retirement plan administration services to the advisory and business community we serve.  Our service focused, professional team approach creates value for our “Friends”, with appropriate, timely, accurate and personalized services.

We provide consulting and pension administration services for all types of qualified retirement plans including 401(k), Profit Sharing, Cross-Tested and Defined Benefit, including Cash Balance plans.  Our investment partners include John Hancock, American Funds, Mass Mutual, Lincoln Financial and Transamerica.  We do not provide daily valuation or participant level recordkeeping services.  Instead we maintain our focus on documentation, consulting, on-going compliance and other administration services.

Due to our continued growth, we are currently seeking an experienced in-house Pension Administrator with hands-on experience in compliance and plan administration.

Experienced candidates will be expected to:

  • Manage a book of plans requiring full annual plan administration including but not limited to plan census, contribution calculations, required testing, account reconciliation, and tax form preparation.
  • Answer questions from plan sponsors regarding plan design, eligibility, contributions, testing, vesting, and other aspects of plan operation.
  • Must have the ability to read and comprehend plan documents.
  • Work closely with in-house compliance analyst and distribution/loan associate on questions regarding documents, notices, distribution and loan issues.
  • Communicate (verbally and in writing) effectively with plan sponsors, participants, investment advisors, and record keepers.

We believe the ideal candidate for this position must possess the following skills:

  • Ability to research technical plan questions regarding plan design or operation and assist clients in understanding the information and options available.
  • Understanding of cross-tested Profit Sharing contributions is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of ERISA and subsequent Regulations.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of small /medium case plan administration/consulting as well as Plan Distributions/Loans.
  • Working knowledge in DOL and IRS annual filing requirements and forms, as well as plan correction programs for both services.
  • Experience working in DATAIR Pension System is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with Cash Balance administration is a plus, but not required.
  • ASPPA Designation is not required but preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently but also be part of a great team of plan administrators.
  • A “friendly” can do attitude.
  • Ability to think “outside the box”.

We provide compensation based on performance, 100% paid health/dental/long-term disability insurance/paid time off, 401(k) Plan with safe harbor and profit sharing contributions, cash balance plan, educational reimbursement for pension related programs, a fun working “San Antonio Lifestyle” environment and truly unlimited growth potential.

If you are looking for a place to make a real difference in people’s lives, instead of being an insignificant cog in a pension “chop shop”, we may be the employment home you have been looking for.

No phone calls or employment agencies please.

This is a non- telecommuting position for our office in San Antonio, Texas.
